The discovery of Linear Perspective during the Renaissance is attributed to the architect Filippo Brunelleschi (1377-1446), who suggested a system
that explained how objects shrink in size according to their position and distance from the eye. Using a Horizon Line & Vanishing Points artists are now able to represent objects in space with incredible realism or enhanced dynamics.
Centuries later the Impressionist movement took place in the late 1800’s, as artists began to put more attention to light’s effect on the surfaces of objects (tonal values).
