How do artists UNIFY an image?
Unity is often created through repetition, or what is identified as rhythm or flow. Rhythm focuses more on the actual repeated use of the elements, where unity focuses more on the entire system; how well each piece contributes to the whole, and how well all of the pieces blend together to support the design.
Through discussion, students all became familiar with the Four Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. They were asked to create an image that UNIFIES these four elements. Some students chose style, while others went with connecting themes.
