Art III:
This course will enable students who already have a good understanding of art and are skilled in the use of art media, an avenue for creative self-expression. Through a series of creative projects using knowledge of the aesthetic concepts and techniques gained in the two previous art courses, students are encouraged to discover their potential individual expression in depth. Students will undertake a number of projects that will challenge their creativity, problem-solving capabilities, and personal self-expression. Course Goals: -Reinforce and refine skills & techniques learned in Art 2 -Start to develop personal style and preferences in art -Maintain a sketchbook that demonstrates personal expression through the use of visual images, collected materials and written commentary -Recognize and apply technical approaches through the use of a variety of media to develop a repertoire of visual experiences with a sense of quality -Be able to assess and improve their own work independently and confidently -Analyze and apply ways contemporary and master artists and cultures use concepts and ideas in a theme or series for the development of personal artwork Class Requirements: -During each term, students will be assigned in-class art projects in various art media (drawing, painting, printmaking, 3-D, etc.). Each student is responsible for completing each project by the due date. -Art 3 students are expected to keep up with lessons and projects in class. They will be given a generous amount of time to finish them. -Art Sketchbooks- Sketchbook assignments will be assigned every week. Teacher Expectations: -Students will abide by the Fairhaven High School Student Handbook rules. -Students will use class time for working on their artwork. -Students will clean up work area, tools, and put art away during the last (5-10) minutes of class, not before. -Respect each other: yourself, other students, artwork, teacher, personal property, and school property. |
