I wanted to create my own take of the Casey family crest. The actual one looks really interesting and regal, however I just thought it looked unappealing. I kept the same shield the crest originally had. The blue symbolizes truth, and loyalty. The purple symbolizes justice, and sovereignty. The grey symbolizes wisdom. And, the pink symbolizes patience. The stripe down the middle symbolizes military strength and bravery, I deemed this appropriate since my dad is in the military. The panther means fierce but tender and loving to children and will defend her children with her life which reminded me of my mother. Red roses symbolizes grace and beauty. And the swords symbolize justice and military honor. I used texture inside the shield to create a rugged look. Tools I employed to complete the project are the paint bucket to fill in some of the overlays, the magic wand tool to cut some of the images out, the text tool to add my last name, and the rectangle tool to create the stripe down the middle. I spent most of my time looking for things to add to my crest, and then color coordinating them to match. The most challenging bit was finding the proper texture to use for the shield. I enjoyed the final outcome the most. |
The symbols in my crest are ones that I believe represent my family well. The angels represent dignity, glory, and honor. The Horseshoe represents good luck and a safeguard against the bad vibes of life. The Fleur de lis represents purity and is also floral badge of France, where my family is from. The flowers represent hope and joy, and the snake at the top represents wisdom. The main shapes I used are the diamond shield and the wavy dividing line. The diamond shield represents that I am a woman and the wavy dividing line represents the sea or water, which represents that both my mom and dad either work or used to work with boats and the sea. The colors I used are silver/grey, blue, green, and yellow. The silver represents innocence, blue represents loyalty, green represents loyalty in love which represents my parents, and gold means generosity. I used a gradation in the banner at the bottom of my crest because I believed it added a different level then if it was just the same shade of yellow. I used both the gradient tool and the selection tool in making the banner at the bottom of the crest to cut the banner out of the background and to add the yellow gradient. I also used the paint bucket in every part of my crest except the banner and the diamond. I used the rectangle tool to create the diamond and just made the fill silver. The most challenging part of this project was to figure out what symbols to put on my crest, and it was difficult to get the snake to look the way I wanted with the colors I wanted. What I enjoyed most about this project was being able to look back in my family history and see the kind of crests were made and also being able to make a crest that I think truly represents my family. |
My family crest is a modern version with some of the same elements involved in it. The main shield is a traditional shield, with white, blue, and red because of the significance of each color. I included the selection tool separate the sections of color. I added in the blue because I am truthful, and loyal, for the red I added it because I have specific strengths and believe I can sometimes have a warrior mentality, and I added the white because I enjoy peace. I added in a texture or similar texture to each color in the main shield to add an older feel to it. The symbols on the left side I added because they fit well with the theme of my crest. The stars were added in to represent that I can and strive to be a star in general in specific areas of my life. The arrow was added in to keep some of the similar aspects in the original Coat of Arms that I found. All of the shapes added in were used with the original shapes tool with a border. The cross was added in to represent another object that was kept from the original piece. It includes a texture and the color red to fit the entire crest. The knight added was for the medieval feel as well as it represents a person’s journey and I have a crazy, but great journey. It has red and a texture added to it. The king’s crown was added to represent royalty as well as a recreated crown from the original piece. It has a glossy texture to include a more realistic feel as well as a paint bucket tool to include only a few colors implemented into the crest. The supports on both the left and right side of the shield include a green to black gradient to fit a real vine, using a silhouette tool to create these vines. I added it in to represent my family tree and how it extends through a lot of people, and I included it to have similar supports to the original. Finally, the banner added in, includes a texture and my last name, Ledvina, with a bend to fit the shape of the banner. I added it in to add an older feel to the crest. Throughout this project, I was using the layers tool for each item in the crest, excluding the shield and it’s texture and colors. During this project, I spent my time on mainly my project and getting idea for it, while talking with classmates, while doing so. The most challenging thing was getting idea for the crest, and the thing I enjoyed the most was added each thing in and finishing the project knowing that it came out well. Overall this project was enjoyable to do.

My family crest was fun to work on. Three tools I used were the magnetic selection tool, the magic wand, and the silhouette feature. I used the dog symbol because my family loves dogs and I thought the paw prints looked cool. I used the eagle wings as the main thing from the original crest and I chose the red shield because I thought it looked neat. I used the baseball because my family loves baseball and the cross because of my families faith. I used the sword because I saw it on other crests and thought it was cool. I used the black and gold 3d name because I thought it added something unique to my crest. The most challenging thing was making layers go under layers and selections and I spent a lot of time deciding on where things go. I enjoyed representing my family most. |
My family crest symbolizes the characteristics thats comes with my family name. My last name is ‘Breault’. The last name Breault was originated in the beautiful and majestic region of Poitou in France. In my crest, i combined multiple objects and colors. The objects I used were roses, a helmet, a shield, raindrops, a deer, a tree and swords. I decided to use two gray roses as a border around the outside of the shield. The roses symbolize balance and express promise, hope and new beginnings. The gray is used to represent a loss. I chose to combine the two because when my family lost my Pepe, it felt as if we lost the glue that held our family together. He died shortly before my aunt had her daughter, Gloria, and in my family, we believe that she was born his spirit which represents a new beginning. I also have a helmet towards the top of my crest in gold. The gold symbolizes generosity. My family is always willing to help others no matter what. I have a black tree in the middle of my crest. I chose the tree to be black because the color black represents constancy or grief. Everyone griefs at some point in their life, it is a natural feeling that everyone has to deal with. I have a deer under the tree and the deer is gold. The deer represents an animal of power. I chose to put this in my crest because as long as we have each other's backs in my family, we have all the power in the world. I have two swords in the shadows of my shield and they symbolize military honor. My Pepe was in the Vietnam war and received multiple medals for his service. He went through horrible things and still stayed strong. I also added raindrops to my shield to symbolize tears. I decided this was important to add to show how vulnerable my family can be as well. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. |
My Family Crest “Cochrane” originated in Scotland. I have chosen the color red for the shield of the crest because, Cochrane means red, and red means a warrior, or strong power, and authority. I have also added horse in the center middle on the shield because the name “Cochrane” represents the badge of the bell with the horse in the middle from Scotland. I have put the flames on the top of the shield and I’ve chosen the color yellow with a gradient for it to represent it as a crown to show strength and power like the name means. I have added the shape with a circle and curved lines with some type of pointy flames in a dark grey marble texture around the shield and on top of all the other layers to show warrior protection vibes. |
The flag that makes the shield symbolizes my moms side of the family being from the Azorian Islands. The wings on both sides of the shield represent my relatives that have passed away and the reason I included it in my family crest is to not forget where the crest started from. I decided to incorporate the main land of Portugal to represent my dad's side of the family. I added a silhouette picture of the mainland behind it to add a sort of 3-D effect and make it stick out. I think adding the red to green color gradient on the mainland was smart because the Portuguese colors are mainly red and green while on the other hand the Azorian colors are Blue and White. I added the soccer ball on the bottom left of the shield to represent the family love for soccer. The ice texture on the shields is to represent that my family is more of a winter family. The Azores Islands are also to represent my moms side of the family being from the islands. I chose red for my banner color because it adds the red from the Portuguese flag. I added the black background because the the bottom of the Azores flag and the white background would clash and it wouldn’t look good. |
The most challenging part of the family crest project was finding my family’s crest and history, all I was able to learn about the delisle family was that we’re from france and originated on an island, hence the name Delisle, meaning “of the island”. Eventually, however, I was able to find a Delisle family crest, and I worked off of it to create my new crest. The original crest depicted a red tower rising above a green sea. I kept the green sea, as green represents hope and joy which are accurate to my family, but the red of the tower representing military strength is no longer relevant. I thus placed the tower so that it appeared sunk into the sea and placed a golden lighthouse on top of it, which shows both the replacement of the old with the new, and keeps with the “of the island” namesake. Gold represents generosity, and it being a lighthouse shows guidance, plus the blue light it exudes represents truth and loyalty, all coming together to show the willingness to aid and be true to others of my family. It’s also on a white background, adding peace and sincerity to the picture. I chose to use textures on the tower and lighthouse to make them appear more solid, as they are buildings, and differentiate them from their paint brush and gradient surroundings. I also used a gradient on the waves and ordinarie at the top of the picture to give the image a good flow from top to bottom, as the gradients get brighter as they go up the shield. The gradients were also very difficult to make, although I also enjoyed making them the most as it allowed me to learn from my mistake of using a paintbrush to outline the waves. This caused the edges of the brush to be slightly transparent, making it so I couldn’t fill the center with a gradient without leaving white space between the gradient and the black outline of the waves. I was able to overcome this by using the polygonal lasso tool to select the inside of the wave, allowing me to be more precise with my selection. Because of this the waves took the longest to complete, but once they were done I was able to make it through the rest of the project much faster. Outside of the shield itself I also added a torse, now green and yellow instead of the original green and red, and some paint brushes to represent my family’s artistic endeavors.

On my family crest, I used a variety of symbols that I feel represent the major qualities of my family. The main crest is the Eiffel Tower; both my mom and dad’s side of the family are mainly French, so it is a meanignful part of my family. I placed a butterfly next to the tower on the crest since a butterfly symbolizes the mind and soul. My family is the number one influence on me and they have shaped me into the person I am; basically, they have impacted me down to my soul. Red roses symbolize love; the love I have for my family, and the love we have for each other is unconditional. The doves represent peace; every family has their chaotic moments, but at the end of the day, when we all come together, there is nothing but peace, love, and laughter between all of us, which is something we all hold close to our hearts. The family tree is just a representation of my family as a whole. I used gradation on my banner because I wanted to incorporate the color blue somehow because it represents loyalty and trust, a characteristic of my family, and I thought a gradation would be a creative way of doing so. White means peace and sincerity, so by putting a white marble design on the doves, the message strongly shows. I used a purple background because it matched my crest well and it is my favorite color. Tools I used the most were the most were the move tool, quick selection tool, gradient tool, paint bucket, and the horizontal type tool. I spent most of my time trying to find colors and symbols that accurately represent my family and how to incorporate them all together. The most challenging part was figuring out what items to use and where to place them because originally my crest was very bland and boring, so I needed to figure out how to make it better with more details. I enjoyed researching my family history and presenting it in a creative form most while completing this project. |
In my family crest I used a few colors, a pattern, an animal, and a plant. I didn’t base my family crest on anything specific, however I used colors, and objects that I believed represented my family. For example, I chose the dolphin, because it represents salvation, charity, and love. I believe that these adjectives describe my family clearly. I did not choose the checkerboard for any specific reason except the fact that my family likes the pattern, and we all own things that have the pattern on it. However I chose the color red to put in the checkerboard pattern, because red represents military strength, and there is a lot of strength in my family, considering all the things we have been through, additionally, many people were in the military in my family. I chose the white in the checkerboard because it represents peace which I believe is widespread throughout my family bloodline. I chose the color gold in my family crest because it represents generosity, and I believe my family is very generous when it comes to many things. Last but not least, I chose the hibiscus, because it represents delicate beauty. And I believe there are many people in my family that fit this adjective of beauty. |
My family crest expresses my love for Portugal and soccer. My family is based in Portugal, I travelled there this summer and I saw my entire family. My father lived in Portugal as a kid, and my mother lived there as well. My grandparents were born in Portugal and visit every single summer. I love Portugal, it is apart of me and I wouldn't want to be from anywhere else. The reason for putting the soccer texture is because I’ve played soccer all my life and I plan on teaching my children everything I know. Soccer has played a huge role in my life and that is from personality to making friends. I have made some lifelong friends because of soccer, and the bond between us will never be broken. I also learned how to be humble and caring from my coaches. Soccer is more than just a sport to me and my family. It has been an outlet to relieve stress and just have fun. The reason for the crown is because my great grandfather was the mayor of my village in Portugal. The lion is to show dominance and the will to never give up, no matter what. The olive leaves are for purity and peace. My family has always been laid back and they despise drama and stress almost as much as I do. I used my gradient on the ribbon with my family name “Garcia.” I used the magic wand, custom shapes, and cut tool during my project. The most difficult thing for me was alignments. I enjoyed color coding my project, making sure everything matches was super fun. |
The shape of my family crest is the traditional shield shape for men because Chinese culture really emphasizes the importance of having a son. It is traditionally common sense for males to be dominant in a household. Though I am not proud of this custom as the newest generation, it is indeed a huge part of my family’s background.
The red/pink represents strength, since for generations my family endured many challenges. China has always struggled with conflicts within, so as a result its rural society was very “uncivilized” until recent generations. For my family tree, the generation right before mine were the very first to grow up and experience this development. That means it was genuinely every man for themselves for my grandparents and all my relatives before them. It always blows my mind thinking about it. I know I am very lucky to be living here in the United States and as the first generation to be born here I have this sense of honor. Because of my family’s strength, I’m able to start a better life for the future generations. The blue represents loyalty. My father shows immense devotion to his parents, even when they are wrong in the eyes of others. While I worked on this project I realized how crucial it is to him. It is why he works so hard and risks everything. My family, at least on my father’s side, truly values loyalty, and I know I should too. The purple represents victory. Though my family hasn’t always been successful, we always keep trying. It’s like it’s in our blood, and I am proud of that. That is why I believe that in the end, it is indeed a victory for my family. The fist and bare arm symbolizes my family’s value of hard work. We definitely work our way to success and create opportunities for ourselves. The flower represents hope for the future and strength as well. Laurel leaves mean triumph, which our family values. Feathers symbolize willing obedience, which ties into loyalty for my culture. Last but not least, the dragon represents valiance, as my family takes honor in showing true determination. Also, the dragon is a big part of old Chinese mythology and grants good luck, so of course I found it fitting for it to be the main focus of my family crest. |
The shield is made of the flag of Portugal which symbolizes how my whole dad’s side of the family is from Portugal. My dad was born in Portugal and then moved to the US when he was eight with most of his family. The knight helmet at the top represents Antonio deAlmeida who was a supposed knight. The swords are also related to the helmet as Antonio was a knight. The banner is only for the purpose to hold the family name, deAlmeida, in it and the flourishes on the side were to fill up space. In the banner, I used a gradient from black to green and back to black. Inside of the helmet I put bricks as my dad and grandfather were both masons. Inside of one of the flourishes I put a texture of a basketball to add a little personal touch. I used the gradient tool, silhouetting, and texturing in multiple places. I spent most of my time trying to fill the free space which was not hard but just time consuming and annoying. What I enjoyed the most was the peer collaboration throughout the entirety of the project. |
